Good News 丨Sodium power project evaluation first, Wike Technology successfully selected for the 13th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and Zhongguancun 8th Emerging Fields Thematic Competition

On December 17, 2024, the organizing committee of the 8th Zhongguancun Emerging Fields Thematic Competition released a notice about the winners of the 13th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the 8th Zhongguancun Emerging Fields Thematic Competition. Wike Technology was successfully selected with the first place in the evaluation of sodium electricity project.

The Thirteenth China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the Eighth Zhongguancun Emerging Fields Thematic Competition released a total of 135 technical issues and problems, and through the joint efforts of all parties, 273 innovative subjects from 20 provinces (municipalities) and autonomous regions submitted a total of 361 solutions to the organizing committee of the Thematic Competition. 2024 November, the organizing committee organized six special competitions, including information technology and security, marine advanced manufacturing, new energy and new materials, unmanned intelligence, aerospace and aviation, and nuclear, biological and chemical security. The award-winning project, “Development of High Specific Energy Wide Temperature Range Sodium Ion Battery Technology”, demonstrates WKT's latest achievements in improving the energy density and high and low temperature performance of sodium ion batteries.The project solves the problem that existing start-stop batteries cannot be used in working conditions below -20°C, providing stable and reliable power support for special application scenarios. For example, under extremely cold conditions (e.g. -40°C), WKT's sodium-ion batteries can still maintain a discharge efficiency of nearly 85%, which greatly improves the reliability of equipment operation.

In terms of technological innovation points, the project has made breakthroughs in three aspects. First, through elemental doping to retard the phase transition and improve the reversibility of the phase transition, and under the premise of maintaining cyclic stability, the material cladding is utilized to enhance the air stability and the material gram capacity, and inhibit the Ni/Na disorder phenomenon that occurs in the exposed air. Secondly, by analyzing the capacity and multiplicity enhancement mechanism of the hard carbon materials and regulating the hard carbon layer spacing, pore structure and distribution, particle size distribution, defects and functional groups, we develop high-capacity and high-performance hard carbon anode materials. Third, by optimizing the anode and cathode formulations and introducing nano auxiliary materials, the capacity decay mechanism of high surface density thick electrodes is explored to ensure that excellent cycling performance can still be demonstrated under high surface density conditions.
